Mowin' the lawn

I finally got a riding mower (a John Deere X320), so I got busy mowing my upper pasture and arena yesterday. I had so much fun doing that that I mowed the front pasture today! It didn't take but about two hours to do four acres, and it looks so nice now.

Making mud pies

We're irrigating again! There's something so strangely satisfying about seeing all that water come rushing across the pastures. And making little canals for the water is fun too. Reminds me of running the hose in the dirt as a kid in order to make fake lakes and rivers, and of course mud pies!

Darn heat!

I'm still riding a few times a week, but darn it's hot. I have a fairly large shady area that might make for a good summer riding spot. I think it would be big enough for about a 100' round pen, or I could just ride there without an enclosure. Riding in the shade would be nice!

Now I just need to get the girls out on some shady trails!
